FAMILY PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER
I'm a family portrait photographer in Johannesburg, South Africa.
My family gallery highlights my work as a family portrait photographer.
What do you charge for a family portrait shoot?
My family portrait photography prices start at R3500 for four people.

Why should I have family portrait photos?
If you don't have family portraits of when you were young then you know the answer.
And if you don't have family portraits with your parents and their grandparents don't wait.
Our grandparents are not here forever. Your child is not one for long. Eighteen years passes very quickly, even though at times it may seem an eternity.
When should I book my family's portrait shoot?
As soon as you realise you don't have family portraits. It will be an investment that never stops giving.

Where are my family's portraits taken?
Family portraits are taken at my professionally equipped Johannesburg studio using special studio lighting.
These photos are usually shot against a seamless backdrop. White and black are popular backdrop colours. I also have backdrops in the colour of rosewater and black moss.
Black and white baby silhouette photos are striking and I capture these in my studio.
Outdoor park and home shoots are also a consideration.
It is important that whatever background is selected one should never see the background before they see your family in front of it.
Who can join the family shoot?
As many family members as you like.
Grandparents are free.
How to prepare for your family portrait session?
People always ask what the family should wear.
The simpler the better. Timelessness is best.
Consider something with texture as the contrast with their skin is striking.
Preferably no t-shirts with Disney characters.
Consider something of symbolic importance or value.
Plan the outfits in advance. If you are still unsure, bring a couple of outfits and we can make a final decision together.
Ensure that their hands are neat and trimmed. Hands are so expressive and always in style.
If your child is going to get a hair cut, get it a week before the shoot. This way, the cut will grow in a little and they will have some time to get used it.
A good night rest will be a plus.
What can I expect from a family portrait session?
Since 2005 I have photographed thousands of families. I will bring all my years of experience and energy to your shoot.
You are welcome to share examples of family portraits you've saved on Pinterest. We will discuss these ideas and together create a unique collection of moments for you.
I have years of experience when it comes to patience. I will get Stolen Moments™ even from the grumpiest dad.
I want you to have an all encompassing collection of real moments from the shoot.
You will leave having had a refreshing experience. It is a precious hour and always fun.
I will email you a contact sheet with plenty of images to choose your favourites from. It is a good idea to get a second opinion when you make your selection. We are so critical.
Your favourite, edited digital images will be sent to you in high and low resolution via WeTransfer.
Because your family's portraits are important to you I backup them up. In the event that you loose your favourite, edited digital files they can be retrieved for a fee.
My aim is to capture Stolen Moments™ of your family.
I describe them as transient and fragile slices of life,
an intimate personal reflection of a moment in time,
an investment that never stops giving.
I am passionate about photographing people. I try to be a storyteller and I do it through pictures.
I aim to develop a strong feeling and proximity to my subjects. When I’m trusted people give a lot more. They feel more. They are more responsive. More open to take risks. My aim is to reach a point where I am able to capture authentic moments and take people to a place they didn’t know.
I’m interested in sincerity and feelings. Genuine laughter is good. I find smiley photos mundane. It can ruin the rest of a photo. There is so much to see in photos. Our most interesting part is our face. It is good to see our skin come through and not too much else. I prefer to capture those meaningful layers that are too often obscured. I find black and white photos gets under the skin. Colour is always on the surface.
I don’t use a tripod as I’m always looking for an encompassing moment. Spontaneity. There is no taking a break when capturing a baby, child or family.
Photography is a fantastic means of expressing yourself.
