JOHANNESBURG pet PHOTOGRAPHer
I'm a Johannesburg pet photographer, creating unforgettable photos of dogs and cats for discerning clients since 2005.
Let me capture the window to the soul of your pet; I'll give you a side act!
Examples
With my strikingly crafted light, I'll create timeless works of art to set your pet's portrait above the average to remember for a lifetime.
Simple Pricing
It is a value-for-value exchange and an incredible investment.
I charge a professional rate of R2500 for my time, equipment and creative juices.
From an incredible selection of images, you will buy those you love.
What you purchase is entirely up to you.
Images are sold individually and are R750 each.
Clients
You are my typical client if you want the bond and emotion between you and your pet captured as works of art.
Posing
The trickiest part of pet photography is that most pets don't understand posing instructions on command.
Pets often can't sit still - squirmy, energetic, and over-eager - making unique pet portraits; I intuitively sense this and work quickly to capture the moment.
I have immeasurable patience. And I'm a bit of a pet whisperer.

Expression
The eyes are the windows to the soul, and having them sharp is more important than anything else in pet photography.
Without emotion, a pet photo is not worth taking.
My superpower is seeing and capturing the bond between you and your pet.
When you revisit your photos, they will take you to the moment and, most importantly, remind you exactly how you felt then.

Retouching
Less is more. I specialise in the most comprehensive and detailed editing but focus on a natural retouching method.
My Style
It is crucial to choose a pet photographer whose style resonates with you.
My style has been the same since 2005; it is distinctive and timeless, never trendy or cheesy.
Your Photographer
If you've fallen in love with my work, it's because you love how it makes you feel.
I never outsource to another. If I can't take your photos, I will reschedule your session.
Choose a photographer with a gallery of consistent professional pet images, making me the perfect choice.
Clothing
Your pet is the star of the show.
Plan everyone's wardrobes; although not the focus, it can throw a great photo shoot.
Wardrobe Suggestions
- My signature look is black clothing of various textures and shades against a black background and white against a white background; the contrast makes everyone jump out.
- Cover your arms with a long sleeve or scarf if you don't want them to show.
- If you are unsure, browse my pet gallery for ideas; call me or bring everything, and I will guide you.
Hair
If your visits to the hairdresser are due, go a week before the shoot; the cut will grow a bit, and there will be time to get used to it.
Hands and Nails
So often overlooked, trim everyone's nails as they become the second act when interacting. If you colour your fingernails, choose a neutral or clear tone.
Professional Makeup
Mum, I recommend natural makeup over complete makeovers but can arrange professional makeup for an additional fee.
Drink water the day before and on the day of your session. It reduces puffiness.
Backgrounds
I use black and white backgrounds for my pet photo shoots.
Lighting
I want your photos to stand out from the average pet photos.
I use a simple one-light setup on black backgrounds, silhouette images, and high-key lighting for white backgrounds.
Products
My studio offers a beautiful range of quality products.
I am passionate about working with my clients to create a pet gallery that can expand over time.
There is no better reason to hang enlarged portraits of your pet in your home- when you see their large heads, large eyes and small noses, it triggers a powerful hormone called Oxytocin - to fill you with warm maternal feelings every time you look at them.
Then & Now
Not many wish they had fewer photos of their pets; it's seldom the other way around. I have been passionate about capturing pets since 2005, building priceless then-and-now galleries.
Bonus
My standards are high - let me capture an award-winning portrait of your pet.
I am thrilled to be among only two photographers in Africa awarded a Master's portrait accreditation from the Portrait Masters.
The next steps are easy
1. SCHEDULING
Their time with us is too short.
You think you have time. Next month. Next year.
Time flies. Let me make it stand still.
2. CONSULTATION
Your pet photo session includes a pre-shoot telephone consultation; we will discuss lighting and posing styles.
I want to meet your expectations, so I will ask you to send me examples you like.
3. SESSION
Expect the unexpected. Leave me to sort out the chaos; the more, the better.
Pet photography is a mix of portrait, sports, and baby photography, all rolled into one, which means working fast to capture expression.
I will direct and guide you and your pet throughout - that is my superpower.
