CHOOSING A PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER
How considering price, experience, quality, and style will help you choose the right portrait photographer.
PRICE
Although price is important, it is not the only consideration. Like any quality product or service, good photography is expensive because quality equipment costs more. Lousy photography is even more costly. If you don’t like your photos, you will have wasted time and money. If there is a chance to re-shoot, you will spend more money for a better photographer. It’s often less expensive to get it right the first time.
EXPERIENCE
Years of experience may not necessarily equate to quality. I have honed my craft over the past 19 years and received an international Master’s from The Portrait Masters, one of only two in Africa.
QUALITY
Explore a portfolio and look for consistency in a photographer’s work. Amateur portfolios have a couple of accidentally good images from many sessions. You risk getting one or two good images from your session. My photos are properly exposed, sharp, and well-framed.
STYLE
Choose a photographer whose style most resonates with you. My style focuses on “you” with sensitivity, insight and humour, plus being timeless.
