As a Johannesburg maternity photographer, I have taken emotive and timeless pregnancy photos for clients who have valued quality photography since 2005.

How important are having photos of this extraordinary life within you?

Choose a maternity photographer whose style resonates with you.

My style is simple, authentic and timeless, never trendy.

Was your last pregnancy shoot a disappointment?

Couple Floor Pose Idea

Whichever photographer you choose, you're going to spend money.

Like any quality product or service, good photography is expensive because it is costly to create quality images.

If you're unhappy, you may not have the budget or time to do a re-shoot with another photographer.

I charge two fees - session and image fee.

You buy the photos you love.

It is less expensive to get it right the first time.

Explore a photographer's portfolio and look for consistency in their work.

Amateur portfolios have a couple of accidentally good images from many sessions.

Do you want to risk that there may be only one or two great images from your maternity session?

Years of experience may not equate to quality.

I've been a portrait photographer since 2005 and have an international Master's in portrait photography, one of only two in Africa, from The Portrait Masters.

I have high standards. Let me create a world-class portrait.

JOHANNESBURG: Master Recognized Portrait Photographer

I will be your photographer - never outsourced.

If I can't take your photos, I will reschedule your session.

If you have fallen in love with my maternity portfolio, you are my typical client because you are looking for timeless pregnancy photos with your partner, children, or pets.

Your maternity photos are captured in the privacy of my studio.

There are seven posing rules that I pay special attention to:

  1. chin
  2. shoulders
  3. hands
  4. hourglass
  5. body language
  6. asymmetry
  7. connection

Trust me to lead you in posing so you feel comfortable, beautiful and empowered.

It is not your job to know how to pose; it is mine to guide and direct you throughout.

I pay closer attention to small details like where your hair falls, your garment flow, and the positioning of your hands.

Did these finer details ruin your last photoshoot?

Less is more.

I focus on a natural look.

I'd be a millionaire if I could earn a buck for every kilogram I've shaved off in the final edit.

I have a beautiful selection of materials for draping and wrapping, plus complimentary maternity gowns for your session.

Plan the clothes you want to be photographed in advance—nothing worse than forgetting an essential item.

Below are some wardrobe suggestions

  • Nothing; barely there
  • Regular jeans (not maternity ones) and a camisole
  • Oversized buttoned white shirt
  • The long, flowy or form-fitting dress
  • Buttoned-up or turtleneck jersey
  • Neutral strapless bra and seamless underwear
  • Black bra and panty set for black background photos
  • White/ivory bra and panty set for white background photos
  • Lingerie sets
  • Tube top or tummy band
  • Coordinated outfits for those joining the shoot
  • Favourite scarves, accessories, jewellery
  • Sentimental items – wedding veil, sari
  • If you don't want your arms to show, cover them.
  • If anything needs dry cleaning or ironing, take care of it.

If your visit to the hairdresser is due, go a week before the shoot.

This way, you will have time to get used to it, and the cut will grow slightly.

Hands and Nails

So often overlooked, trim everyone's as they become the second act.

If you colour your fingernails, choose a neutral or clear tone.

I can arrange a professional makeup artist for an additional fee.

I recommend natural makeup over complete makeovers.

How To Book Me

Plan your photo session two to three weeks in advance. I recommend a maternity photo session between 30 - 35 weeks. I would happily work with you if this timing doesn't work.

All sessions include a telephonic consultation. We will discuss wardrobe, posing ideas and lighting styles. I will ask you to send me images of what you like to form a picture of your vision.

Even if it is your first time in front of the camera, and you don't know how to pose, I will direct and guide you - that is my superpower. My goal is to ensure you look connected and relaxed. After your shoot, we will go through your images. I will guide and help select the very best. You purchase the photos you love. What you buy is entirely up to you.

There are few certainties in life, but if you come into my studio, I will capture the most incredible photos you have ever seen of yourself – that is my superpower - and it will give me enormous pleasure.
