Fatherhood begins long before words.
In the quiet weight of a newborn held close, in the lift of a small body learning trust, in moments of play, protection, encouragement, and affection.
Then the years begin to move.
Children grow taller.
Conversations deepen.
Guidance replaces instruction.
What changes on the surface often reveal something deeper.
The bond remains.
This portfolio explores the relationship between fathers and their children across the years — from early childhood to adulthood.
These portraits are not about perfection or performance. They are about the moments that reveal a relationship: a glance, a laugh, a gesture, a familiar way of standing together.
Photographed in my Johannesburg studio, they are deliberately simple. The black background, careful light, and minimal composition remove distraction, allowing the relationship itself to hold the frame.
Some images are playful.
Some are thoughtful.
Some carry the unmistakable confidence that comes from knowing someone has always been in your corner.
Together, they form a body of work about fathers and children and the ways their relationship evolves without losing its foundation.
These are the portraits that remind us that growing older does not end the bond.
It reveals it differently.
