Maternity Photo Gallery

The answers to my most frequently asked questions as a professional Johannesburg maternity photographer.

I charge two fees: a session fee and an image fee.
See my maternity pricing information for more details.
My session fee includes your pre-shoot consultation, time, equipment, overflowing creative juices, and enthusiasm.
The image fee includes your edited, high- and low-resolution files in colour and black and white, delivered via a WeTransfer link. I sell my images individually.
Less is more.

I want you to have a handful of incredibly edited world-class portraits that become part of your family legacy.

Because I sell my images individually, I'm highly motivated to work harder than most. It's a value-for-value exchange.

The days of getting 40 images on a DVD that you lose and never print are over.
I require full payment to secure your session.
I require full payment to edit your selected images.
I accept EFTs.
Deciding what to wear for your maternity photo shoot doesn't have to feel overwhelming. I've created a simple maternity guide to help you decide.
  • Plan your wardrobe well in advance - nothing worse than forgetting an essential item.
  • If anything needs dry cleaning or ironing, take care of it.
  • Bring your outfits on hangers to prevent wrinkles.
  • Time permitting, you can make as many wardrobe changes as you want at my studio.
Yes. I have a beautiful selection of elaborate gowns, fabric for draping, crop tops, formfitting dresses, lace and silk gowns, and tulle outfits.
No. How much skin you choose to reveal is entirely up to you.
Moisturise your body the night before.

Wear loose-fitting clothes to your shoot to prevent marks on your skin.

If your visit to the hairdresser is due, go a week before the shoot to give your hair time to grow and get used to it.

Often overlooked, ensure your nails are trimmed or manicured. If you colour your nails, choose a neutral or clear tone.
Absolutely. I encourage partners, children and family pets to be part of this memorable experience.
Ensure you coordinate the outfits of those joining the shoot. I typically recommend black clothes as you are the star of the show.
I can arrange professional make-up for an additional fee. I recommend natural make-up over complete makeovers.
No, because I can pose you to flatter your body and remove a kilogram or two in editing if you wish—both are my superpowers.
Trust me to guide and direct you throughout - it's another one of my superpowers - so you feel comfortable, empowered and beautiful.

I pay closer attention to small details like where your hair falls, your garment flow, and the positioning of your hands - small details can ruin an otherwise great photo.
Absolutely. In our pre-shoot consultation, we will discuss examples that you love. I will ask you to send me examples of your vision so I can make it a reality.
Read my Google reviews, and be assured being made to feel comfortable is another one of my superpowers.
If I can't take your photos, I will reschedule your session.

I never outsource.

You want my vision and soul.
My style is simple, timeless and never trendy.

It is important to choose a maternity photographer whose style resonates with you.

You are my perfect client if you have fallen in love with my maternity portfolio.

My studio has an inverter to take care of blackouts.
Time permitting, we will go through your shoot immediately or arrange a convenient time for you to come back to view them. I will guide you in selecting the very best. There are no hard sells.
Yes. I will edit your images. It is another one of my superpowers.
I focus on a natural look—less is more.
You have four weeks to finalise your order before it is archived. I charge R2 500 to retrieve it from the archive.

I recommend all decision-makers are at the viewing of your shoot.
Your images are priceless. Storage is expensive.
It typically takes up to ten days to edit portraits.
My studio offers designer photography products, including fine art prints, custom framing, photo albums, portfolio boxes, and gift vouchers.
It typically takes three to six weeks, depending on the product ordered.
I have been a portrait photographer since 2005, honed my craft and am confident you will work with a true industry professional.
I have an international Master's in portrait photography, one of only two in Africa, from The Portrait Masters, a global community of the world's best portrait photographers.

I have garnered multiple portrait awards from my industry peers.

I was privileged to pursue tertiary education. I earned a humanities degree from Wits University in 1989 —life has come full circle.
I have been a dedicated portrait photographer since 2005. My genuine interest in people, humanities degree, Master's in portrait photography, and sharp eye make me a natural portrait photographer.

My pricing is simple and transparent. It's a value-for-value exchange. Getting it right the first time is often less expensive.

My reputation is on the line every time I photograph people. Since every aspect of customer service is a matter of public record online, I am highly motivated to do an incredible job and capture the best photo you have ever seen of yourself. Here is a quick link to my reviews and compliments, also available with a Google review search.

I work from my dedicated studio and use professional equipment. My photos are properly exposed, sharp and well-framed. My maternity portfolio is extensive and speaks for itself.

My style is soulful and timeless and has remained the same since 2005. Simple lighting delivers a strong message—I don't follow trends.
