Getting Ready

GETTING READY FOR YOUR PORTRAIT PHOTOSHOOT

There is nothing worse than being unprepared and forgetting an essential item.

General Suggestions

  • Bring multiple outfits; having options is a practical approach.
  • Think timeless. Trendy outfits date quickly.
  • Make sure your clothes are clean.
  • If anything needs dry cleaning or ironing, take care of it.
  • Bring your outfits on hangers to avoid wrinkles. Change at my studio.
  • Ensure your clothes fit; so often an issue since COVID-19.
  • Collared shirts should not be too tight or loose.
  • If you don't want your arms to show, cover them.
  • Dark colours are slimming.
  • Solid colours are safest, practical and timeless.
  • Avoid bright clothes. It distracts.
  • Prints and florals work sometimes.
  • Layering adds interest.
  • Dress the part.
  • Choose a colour palette and style for group photos - browse my galleries.
  • Keep jewellery to a minimum unless it is your signature look.
  • Smartwatches are not timeless.
  • Ensure your nails are moisturised and trimmed - for both men and women.
  • If you colour your fingernails, choose a neutral or clear tone. Less distracting.
  • Natural make-up is better than complete makeovers.
  • If your visit to the hairdresser is due, go a week before the shoot to get used to it.
  • If you wear glasses with anti-reflection coating, bring them.
  • If you are still unsure, bring everything. I'll help you select.
  • Leave timeously with my location pin loaded.
  • Come energised. It is hard work. But I guarantee an incredible experience.
